Restuarant City Changes

Wow.  There has been a lot of changes in restuarant city.  With these changes, there are different strategies as well!

Some important changes
1. GP (Gourmet Points) are now accumulated even when you are offline.  Before, the only way to get GP was to wait in front of your computer while the game was running.
2. Max coins offline is now calculated.  Before, you would max out at 2000 coins.  Now it is calculated on how much stamina your worker has, how many waiters there are, how many cooks there are, how many games there are, and popularity.  Taking all this into consideration, the amount of coins that you can get changes.  To get the maximum potential of coins, you should have equal amount of cooks as there are waiters, and 50+ popularity.
3. New recipes are now require 4 ingredients to make.
4. Plants can be watered by your neighbors.
5. You can interact in the game.  You can click on dirty dishes to get rid of them, click on dirty toilets to clean them, and click on broken arcades to repair them.
6. Outside lot.  You can now purchase an outside lot for more space.  WARNING: If you block your door, or delete your door to close your restaurant, when you purchase the outside lot, you open new entrance ways.  You have to block the access to the sidewalk in order to stop customers from coming in and lowering your popularity points.
7. There are new awards for interacting with the game (Number of toilets cleaned, number of dishes cleaned...etc.).
8. Themes.  Restaurant city has really taken up some action and created lots of themes.  They pump one out every other week or so.  Maybe it is because of the holiday season, but they are creating many new items and themes.  Some are limited, so get yours as soon as possible.
9. Customers actually walk all the way to the door before entering.  Before they used to just pop out of thin air.
10. New questions for food quiz.
11. Newsletter direct from Restaurant City.  They now mail you with the newest and greatest about restaurant city.
12. The grandpa (I can't recall his name right now).  If you click on him, he gives you prizes that you can share with friends.
13. Friend restaurant quests.  You can now go to your friends restaurant and do quests to earn GP and coins!
Anymore??

The power of Bananas

)))(((Taken from an email sent to me)))(((

A professor at CCNY for a physiological psych class told his class about bananas.  He said the expression "going bananas" is from the effects of bananas on the brain.  Read on:

Never, put your banana in the refrigerator!!!

This is interesting.

After reading this, you'll never look at a banana in the same way again..

Bananas contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy.

Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes.

But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit.
It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet..

Depression:
According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.

PMS:
Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.

Anemia :
High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.

Blood Pressure:
This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.

Brain Power:
200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school ( England ) were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.

Constipation:
High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.

Hangovers:
One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.
Heartburn:
Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.

Morning Sickness:
Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness

Mosquito bites:
Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.

Nerves:
Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system.

Overweight
and at work? Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and chips. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs.. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady.

Ulcers:
The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.

Temperature control:
Many other cultures see bananas as a "cooling" fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers.. In Thailand , for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD):
Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancer tryptophan.

Smoking &Tobacco Use: Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.

Stress:
Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance.. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be re balanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack..

Strokes:
According to research in The New England Journal of Medicine, eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%!

Warts:
Those keen on natural alternatives swear that if you want to kill off a wart, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the wart, with the yellow side out. Carefully hold the skin in place with a plaster or surgical tape!

So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say, "A banana a day keeps the doctor away!"

Fake Swine Flu Drugs Sold Online

Apparently there are some claims online that products sold online are curing or preventing swine flu.  The FDA announced that these are false.  They can contain Tylenol and not even anything that are proven to cure swine flu.  And if it does contain the drug to cure swine flu, they were not approved by the US.

National Coffee Day 9/29/09

Today is national coffee day!

What is coffee?  It is a fruit, belive it or not.  Coffee harvesters take the coffee seed and roast them (that is what you see in stores).  And after it is roasted and ground, it is ready for you to enjoy!!  They use coffee because of the caffeine content in the seeds.  This is a natural energy booster for humans.  (Just because it is natural (comes from nature) doesn't mean that it is good for you).

Since today is National Coffee Day, no doubt there will be coffee places that give away free coffee so call your local coffee stop and ask if they are offering free coffee.

If you enjoy coffee and would like a wide variety of it, and want to order it online this is a great site.  They have tons of different kinds of coffee, and if you sign up for their email newsletter, they usually give out Friday coupons for over roasted coffee beans (because they want to have the freshest coffee, they are giving away over roaster coffee =D).

Cure for HIV

Did you hear?

They have found the cure for HIV...well sort of...like most.

They claim that 30% of people did not get HIV in a study.  What they did is get 5000 people and half got the meds and half got placebos.  The people selected were high risk for HIV.  Makes you wonder who these people are...who are the high risk individuals?  People who are poor?

Anyway, this is still early and still needs development and it will be years from now that a vaccine will be available.

My Thoughts
It will be a looooong time for waiting.  HIV constantly mutates, so how are they going to develop a vaccine that constantly changes?  Unless they can create a mutating vaccine, and mutates exactly like the HIV virus, it will be a while till we see a vaccine.

Chegg.com -- Renting textbooks rather than buying them

I have known about this site for a while now, but haven't used it until my friend told me about it.

A new semester or quarter begins.  You are in need of a textbook, but don't want to lash out hundreds of dollars.  What do you do?

You can buy the textbook -- use it a few times and then sell it on amazon.

OR

You can use chegg.com and rent them for a certain period.

Chegg.com has many books that your college or university uses.  They had 3 of the 4 books that I needed.  One of them I just bought on amazon.  You can rent it, use it, highlight it, mark it, just don't destroy it, and then after your school is over ship it back to them.  Shipping it back is free, although shipping to you might cost you some money...but wait... use code CC105371 and get a discount on your order.
What I do before I rent from chegg.com is to go to amazon.com and compare the prices.  If I think that I can buy the textbook used from amazon.com and resell it more than the price of chegg.com, then I will buy it from amazon and just sell it back.  If not, then...well that's obvious...I'll use chegg.com.

EDIT: 9/28/09 @ 10:29 AM:
Who wants to pay a wad of cash for textbooks? Not yours truly. I’m Chegging, baby.
Seriously, go to Chegg.com where you can rent textbooks rather than buy them. You’ll save between 65%-85%. Yes, I’m serious.
Just search for the books you need and order. Chegg ships them to you super fast and when your term ends you just ship them back for free. And guess what? They plant a tree for every book that’s rented. Pretty cool.
BUT – make sure you use this special promo code CC105371. You’ll get an extra 5% off your order.

You can also use the same code, CC105371, and get $5 more from the books that you sell to chegg.

Enough said…

Thanks for reading.  Check out some other reading by returning to my mainpage!

Materials needed:

White Vinegar (the cheap store brand one)
Humidifier and all of the parts

How to clean a coffee maker

Over the past few weekends ago, I cleaned a coffee maker.  Why?  I'm not sure...maybe I came across a page that said that to have a great tasting coffee, I need a clean coffee maker.

The steps in cleaning a coffee maker.
Materials Needed:
Coffee Maker (and everything that comes with it)
Water
White Vinegar (you can get the cheap kind for cleaning...like the store brand one's.  It's not like your going to eat it =P)
Coffee Filter

  1. Pour equal parts of water and white vinegar in the water container of the coffee maker.
  2. Put the filter in the coffee maker as you would if you were going to brew some coffee.  (If you have a reusable filter then skip this step).
  3. Turn on the coffee maker and let it use all of the vinegar water.  After it is done, leave the vinegar water in the pot for about 15 minutes.
  4. Pour out the vinegar water and throw it down the drain.
  5. Refill the tank in the coffee maker with water only.
  6. Turn on the coffee maker and let it use all of the water.  When finished, again, leave the water in the pot for about 15 minutes.  (This is so that the coffee maker can have a 15 minute rest / cooling period).
  7. Pour out the water and throw it down the drain.
  8. Refill the tank in the coffee maker with water only (yes, for the second time).
  9. Turn on the coffee maker and let use all of the water.
  10. Pour out the water from the pot and smell the pot.  Smell the water container in the coffee maker.  If it smells like vinegar wait 15 minutes and repeat steps 8 and 10 until you can no longer smell vinegar.
Tada.  And that is how it is done.  You should have great tasting coffee in no time ;)

Ban on cigarettes...well sort of

The FDA has introduced a proposed a new law which was enacted today to ban cigarettes that are flavored.  The reason:
Because people aged 17 and younger are more likely to use cigarettes if they are flavored and will continue to use until age 25.  This makes it more likely that younger people will get addicted to cigarettes (nicotine).  Because of this, the FDA proposed the law that makes it illegal to sell flavored cigarettes.  The only flavored cigarette that is acceptable is menthol.  Anything else is strictly prohibited.

Earthquake Preparation Kit / Emergency Supplies

I have a friend who volunteers for the red cross and he notified me of getting prepared and told me that we should have a kit ready.  I looked online and found some really good items to keep during an emergency.  You can say this is a comprehensive list from many sites (all government sites, including the red cross site).
  1. Water - Very important.  You should have One (1) gallon per person, per day.  You should have a three day supply for evacuation, and a 2 week supply at home.  This means one person should have 17 gallons of water in case of emergency.  3 gallons in a kit and 14 gallons stored at home.
  2. Food - Foods should be non-perishable such as canned foods, nuts, cereal, powdered milk, etc.  Canned foods should include fruits, meats, and juices.  Crackers and dried foods are also good to have.  Again each person should have a 2 week supply at home, and a 3 day supply in a kit.
  3. Radio - A battery powered or hand cranking.
  4. NOAA Weather Radio with tone alert - A battery powered (Optional).
  5. Batteries - For radio, flashlights, NOAA Weather Radio, etc.  Batteries should be replaced before they expire
  6. First Aid Kit
    1. Sterile Gloves - Latex and non-latex if allergic to latex.
    2. Cleansing Agent - Soap or Antibiotic towelettes.
    3. Antibiotic Ointment - Such as Neosporin
    4. Burn Ointment
    5. Adhesive Bandages - Should have variety of sizes.
    6. Eye Wash Solution
    7. Thermometer - For biological threat.  If someone in your group has a fever, medical attention should be sought and possible quarantine of the ill person.
    8. Prescription Medication - At least a seven day supply.  Ask your pharmacist for an emergency kit supply
    9. Prescription Supplies - Such as needles for insulin shots
    10. Lubricant - Such as Vasoline (Petroleum Jelly)
    11. Aspirin - Or other pain reliever medication.
    12. Anti-Diarrhea Medicine
    13. Antacid - Such as Tums
    14. Laxative
  7. Whistle - To signal for help.
  8. Dust Mask - Such as N95 or Surgical.
  9. Duct Tape
  10. Plastic Sheathing - Large heavy duty trash bags for shelter and protection against foreign substances in the air.  Use duct tape to tape down and seal areas to keep foreign objects out.
  11. Moist Towelettes
  12. Garbage Bags - For personal sanitation
  13. Plastic ties - Zip ties
  14. Wrench or Pliers - To turn off utilities
  15. Manual Can Opener
  16. Local Maps
  17. Call Phone w/ Chargers and Extra Battery - Should be used for emergency contact (not to call people asking whether they felt the earthquake.  Phones get backed up too if too many people call at the same time.
  18. Copies of Documents in Waterproof Continers
    1. Insurance
    2. ID
    3. Bank Account Records
    4. **Note: As you can see that these are valuable and confidential information.  Seek locks or containers that can secure your information.
  19. Cash or Traveler's Check - I prefer cash over traveler's check, because during an emergency, traveler's checks may not be honored.
  20. Sleeping Bag or Warm Blanket
  21. Clothing - At least one pair
  22. Chlorine Bleach - As a disinfectant (Nine parts water to One part bleach) or Emergency Water (16 drops chlorine to One gallon of water).  Also the bleach selected should have no other additives such as cleansing agents.
  23. Medicine Dropper
  24. Fire Extinguisher -  A portable small one.
  25. Matches - Stored in a waterproof container.
  26. Disposable Cups, Plates, Utensils, Paper Towel / Napkins
  27. Paper and Pencil
  28. Entertainment - Such as books, or puzzles for children (and adults =D)
  29. Water Purification Tablets
  30. Scissors
  31. Sunscreen
  32. Signal Flare
  33. Glow Sticks for emergency lights
  34. Utility Knife
  35. Towels
  36. Rain Gear
  37. Feminine Supplies
There is your list...not get busy preparing one.  Remember to renew your supplies and recheck and update your kit every 6 months.  Of course you can add more things according to your needs.  Do you think something else should be listed here?  Comment and send email =).

Michael Jackson Movie / Harrison Ford's 5th Movie ?!?

Here is the Michael Jackson Movie that is supposed to come out this fall.  Tickets go on Sale September 27 and the movie will premiere October 28.  After two weeks, no more.  You have to wait till it goes on DVD and Blu-Ray.  For more info you can go here

Now, Mr. Harrison Ford might have an Indiana Jones 5?!?!  He is about to hit the ripe old age of 70!  And he still looks like the Indiana Jones I knew when I was growing up.  He said that he would do the movie under one condition...if the script is good.  (Hmm...if the script wasn't good, would any actor do it).  Anyways, look forward to seeing it, unless something tragic happens...like death.  BTW, RIP Patrick Swayze (08/18/1952 - 09/14/2009).  For those of you who do not know him, he is the male actor for Ghost.

What a Weird Week

So, this week has been a bit weird for the entertainment world.  A few things happened that was a bit mind boggling.  Here are a few...I'm sure there are more, but here are the highlights.

Serena Williams
So, Williams was in the 2009 US open against Clijsters.  During their first set (4 - 5) (Williams - Clijsters) Serena was hitting back and forth and she missed on her 30 - 40 point and she decided to demolish her racket.  Video of her breaking her racket can be seen here.  Talk about un-orderly conduct.  It must have not been her day.  I know that in my tennis experience, I wanted to destroy my racket too, but never did.  I've seen my friends kill their racket.  Destroying a racket is hard work.  Takes a lot of force to do it.  It took Serena 2 swings.

After getting a new racket, Williams and Clijsters continue to compete.  In their last set (6 - 5) Clijsters lead, Serena serves 15 - 30 and faults for a wide shot.  On her second serve, she is called for a foot fault.  I'll let the video explain the rest.

Kanye West
The 2009 VMA's were here.  Yay!  There were some spectacular wins.  Here are the winners:
1. For best female video was Taylor Swi...KANYE WEST: "BEYONCE HAD ONE OF THE BEST VIDEOS OF ALL TIME!!!!!"  Yup, you heard it.  Kanye West interrupted a teenage girls acceptance and thank you speech for this.  Take a look.

Her reaction to it was shocking.  She was interviewed the day after on the view.  Take a look.  At least she was nice enough to just blow it off a little.  She is a strong girl.  Woo!  Ironically, Beyonce did win the Best Video award and gave up her lime light and let Taylor Swift make her acceptance speech stating that she deserved it just like she had in the past with Destiny's Child.

Here is Kanye West's Apology on the Jay Leno Show if you even dare to look.

On a lighter note, Gaga had a few outfits for the 2009 VMA's.  Take a look!  She was also one of the performers for the 2009 VMA's.  Here is her performance.

Here are the list of winners...really:
1. Best Female Video: Taylor Swift - You Belong with Me

2. Best Male Video: T.I. ft. Rihanna - Live Your Life
3. Best Rock Video: Green Day - 21 Guns
4. Best Hip-Hop Video - Eminem - We Made You
5.Best Pop Video - Britney Spears - Womanizer (She was unable to make it to the show, but she did video conferencing).
6. Best New Artist - Lady Gaga - Poker Face
7. Best Video - Beyonce - Single Ladies

The Proposal Movie Review

I thought this movie was hilarious.  Boy, I haven't laughed that much in a movie theater for a while.  I can't wait for it to come out on DVD.

The movie is about Margaret Tate (Sandra Bullock) and Andrew Paxton (Ryan Reynolds).  Ryan is trying to make it as an editor after writing his manuscript, and he works for Margaret as a secretary.  His life is insane with being an assistant to Margaret.  He complains about how he hates his job because of it, but because of his ultimate goal to become an editor, he toughs it out.

Margaret is called by her superiors because they were informed that Margaret visa has expired.  Originally from Canada, she simply tries to play it off saying that she will simply renew, but the superiors state that she needs to be out of the US for about a year before she can come back again, meaning that she would be replaced.  Unwilling to go back to her country, Margaret grabs her assistant Andrew and says that they are getting married.  (You can see where this is headed).

Andrew knows that Margaret need him for his visa.  This was a good opportunity to ask her to publish his manuscript and also make him an editor.  The deal was sealed.  Margaret gets a green card and Andrew gets to be an editor.

They both fly to ------- (find out by watching) to meet Andrew's parents.  Margaret can see the close bonds between the family and misses it because ----------- (watch it, really!).  Find out the rest by watching the movie.  I don't want to spoil it for you =D

Here is a great scene of both Ryan and Sandra pretty clothes-less.

Watch this movie and more on redbox.com when it comes out, and netflix.com...also when it comes out.  (Links will be posted when DVD is out).

I hit my car today

I closed my fist as hard as I could and with all of my might I punched the side of my car!  It left a bruise on my hand and it made a dent in my car.

Just kidding =P  I'm not that aggressive.

But it is true, I hit my car today.  I was pulling out of my friend's garage and when I backed up and put it in drive to turn away from his garage, I hit the corner of the outside wall.  It was made of stucko and it scraped the passenger side, front bumper.

I washed it at the car wash and hoped that it would make it all better, but it didn't improve it much.  it just lost the whiteness that it had on the corner.

The wall suffered some damage as well
[Picture to come in the future]

My day has not been good since that.  I felt like cussing up the wazoo, speeding on the freeway, and many more, but I managed to calm down and thought of the ticket I can get on the freeway and slowed down.

Disney is buying out Marvel

It was said today that Disney was going to buy out Marvel for approximately 4 billion dollars.  This may be good or bad news for Disney stockholders.  The agreement states that Marvel stockholders will get $30 per share they own, plus 0.745 of Disney's stock per share they own of Marvel.

The bad news for Disney stockholders is that there are going to be millions more stock floating out there, but Disney is planning to buy back the stock over the next two years, if approved

The good thing for Disney is that they will have access to over thousands of new characters.  They can use them in movies, or place the characters around Disneyland.

So many possibilities...""Spider-Man will appear in 'A Bug's Life' sequel," joked Barclays Capital analyst Anthony DiClemente." (CNN.com 2009)

Heroes of Newerth Lawsuit?

So there has been many things floating around the internet claiming that HoN is being sued by blizzard for copyrights.

The big claim is that the custom created maps on Warcraft 3 (WC3) are the property of WC3.  Every player had to agree to TOS before playing the game, therefore DotA is the property of blizzard.

The biggest counter argument however is that "blizzard does not own the concept of DotA, or the concept of RTS, MMO, or action RPG" (Ashigaru 2009).

Yucaipa Fires / What to do in a fire

Recently there have been many fires in California (La Canada).  Today, fires were reported in the Yucaipa area.  The fires have burned at least 200 acres, and the 14 freeway has been closed due to safety reasons.  Officials say that the winds may change and pick up.  Currently the fires are traveling at about 2.5 mph.
Our governor said that three families tried to save their home in La Canda.  The result, some severe burns.  Do not attempt to save your house.  If you have insurance, you should be fine.  If you are ordered to evacuate, listen!  Take only a few items that you can in the short amount of time!

What to do in a fire:
1. Know your way to escape in case of a fire.  You should know your escape route for any building that you are in.  Even businesses.  They should have escape routes posted in the building.
2. Stay Low.  Crawl on your hands and knees.  Even though this may be a slow way to escape, it is a whole lot safe.  Smokey air from fires are toxic and can deprive you of the oxygen needed for your escape.
3. Feel door knobs before opening the door.  If it feels hot or warm, don't open the door.  New oxygen entering fires on the other side is fuel for the fire.  It can be explosive.  If you do open the door and feel very warm air entering through the door, close it immediately.
4. Cover cracks and open windows.  Try to seal yourself in the room until firefighters can get to you.  If you are able to, safely climb out the window and to the ground.  If this is not possible, wait for the firefighters.
5. Don't hide.  When the firefighters are looking for you, they won't be able to if you are hiding.  Stay low to the ground and stay visible.
6. Stop, Drop, and Roll.  If you are caught on fire, the best thing to do is stop, drop, and roll.  Cover your face if the fire is close to it.
7. Don't go back.  If you are safely out the door and away from the fire, do not go back in.  Call 9-1-1 or the proper authorities and tell them if you have anything in your home -- like pets.
8. Practice.  Practice makes perfect.  Do home drills or run the drills in your head (if you are at an office building).  You don't want people to think you are crazy =D.

I Love You, Man Movie Review

I Love You, Man is a comedy movie about Peter Klaven looking for a best man for his wedding.  Peter is about to get married to Zooey and he is in desperate need to get a best man.  The only problem is that he has many girl friends, but not that many guy friends.
What was suggest to him for a solution was to go out on a "man date."  His first few are a disaster, but he eventually finds Sydney Fife (yes, he is a man).

Although there are some funny scenes, overall it was not that funny.  It made me kind of squirm to watch someone so awkward.  This movie is very predictable, and the drama is really not there as well.  It is funny to see two guys do very friendly things like hanging out and ditching the girls, but overall not worth it for me.

Genre: Comedy
Rating: 2.5 of 5
If you want to still watch it, you can rent it at redbox.com for only a buck (+ tax) or netflix it.

Restaurant City New Feature

Restaurant City has come out with a new feature.  The newest and greatest feature is probably the mini farm.  This patch of land is like any other farm game on face book, only a bit easier.  Instead of having to plow the area, like most of the farm games, you just need to drop a seed.  Then you have to water it at least once every nine hours.  You don't get to select the seed you want, it is at random.  You get 9 patches, and each patch becomes available to you as you get more GP (Gourmet Points).  The best way to accumulate GP as of now is to keep your game open.  If you close the game, you do not accumulate any GP.  You only accumulate income.  For more information go here.

Apple Slashed Prices on the new Snow Leopard

The price is being cut and it isn't even out yet.  Thanks to Amazon.com, you can get the new Apple's OS, Snow Leopard for only $25.00 (from the original $29).  The 5 license is also being cut down to $44.00 (from the original $49).  You may think this is not a big cut, but being cut down from the already great price...GET IT!

After purchasing the produce, amazon is also offering free "Super Saving" shipping if you buy the new OS.

Snow Leopard is officially on sale starting tomorrow 08/28/09.  It includes upgraded versions of finder, mail, iCal, iChat, and Safari.  They are coming out with new multithreading technology called GCD (Grand Central Dispatch) that will take advantage of the processors full potential.  This is good news for gamers.  The mac can finally compete up to par with PC's.

Playfish Country Story on Facebook

Playfish has done it again. They have a new beta game out called Country Story for Facebook.

This is a brief walkthrough of the game...if you missed it the first time around. By the way, this is the hand tool that you can hover in order to get more information.

This is the digging tool. You click on the ground and it will plow to make a plot of soil for you.

This is the watering can. Before you can water your soil, you have to go to the well and fill up your can. You can water your soil multiple times for different levels of moistness. The little number represents how many times you can use the can until it is empty.

This is the harvesting tool. You go to a fully grown patch and harvest your crop.

This is your backpack that holds things that you have collected.

This is your seed tool. You can select what to plant in your soil.

This is your button to go to the town. In town you can pick up more quests to do. But this will be later on in the game. Don't forget to visit your friends for one time items.

This is your storage, or barn. This is where all of the things you harvest are put.

This is your quest button. I suggest not doing anything more than the tutorial. Your quests lead you on from there. If you get ahead of yourself, you have to wait. For example, there is a watering quest, and if you already watered your plots, then you have to wait until the plots become dry before you can continue with more quests.

This is your paint tool. You can change the color of your house/barn

This is your decoration tool to make your farm look more...well, decorated.

This is your gauge. The top is your stamina. Every time you do an action (like watering), you lose points. You gradually gain them back overtime, or when you eat food. The bottom is your green points. You get these points by gardening as well as questing. This is essentially your experience bar.

Edit: 08/27/09 @ 8:57 AM

This is the friendship tool.  You can ask your friends for help as soon as you do favors for them and get closer with them.

This is what the friendship window looks like.  The highlighted area is the "points" you have to order your friends to help.  Each time they take care of a plot of land, this number is reduced.  The icon below that is your relationship status.  In order to get help (BTW this is also going to be one of your quest so wait till you get it), you would click on the get help button.

When you click on the get help button, the game will ask you to click on the plot of land that person would help.  After you click on the land, you get this image as a hover.  The friend that is taking care of it.

After they help you, as a result, you can check to see what they did.  This is the icon you would click and the result would be the following window.

This is what would pop up after clicking the above icon.
It will tell you what your friends have been doing on your farm.  If they came to take some of your crops, it will be listed here.  Any help that you receive, it will be listed here as well.

More to come...as I play myself.

Putpoketers

Have you heard?

In London there are putpocketers!!! -- Opposite of pickpocketers.
20 former pickpocketers are putting money into unsuspecting pockets, purses, wallets, etc... The put in about $8 - $32. They are putpocketing about $160,000. They are doing this in touristy areas until the end of August and will do this country wide in the future. Interesting, right? For more information and the article, you can go here and check it out!

I wish they could do this in America. It would be awesome. Then again, I guess we don't have that many pickpockers (at least where I live) compared to London.

The Guild

I have been following their videos for a while, and I love their latest music video.

The Guild is about 6 people who are in a guild and do quests together online on an unknown MMORPG (because of copyright stuff). For those of you who are into MMO games, this series is for you. You can go on youtube for more episodes, or you can go directly to their site and look at their videos there. They have up to season two (although season two has only 2 episodes).

Good Luck!

17 Again

So this movie is about Mike O'Donnell wanting to turn back time to change things in the past. He gets a girl pregnant and throws away his college career to take care of her and the baby. He is going through a divorce so he wants to escape it all and go back to when he was 17 (hence the movie title). So a janitor who has the ability to turn back time for an individual gives Mike a chance to go back to the past and relive his high school life all over again. When he is there, he thinks that in order to turn time forward, he needs to help his kids succeed in high school (preventing his daughter from getting pregnant, and making sure that his son gets on the basketball team). His ultimate goal is to get his wife to love him again.

So, I remember Z
ac Efron from high school musical. The sweet little boy who was starting his career singing to a musical. Sure all the girls loved him, but he was out of sight, out of mind for me. Then I saw this movie and I said, "I'm not going to watch that movie" but sure enough I did. I wish I had a body like him. The little kid I knew from high school musical is no more. He is this ripped out man (not boy, haha). What does it take to get that kind of body. Gym 3 times a week? Every other day? 3 times a day?

Also, Matthew Perry (The adult of Mike O'Donnell) was in this movie to. He aged (I'm sad). He's older now, but I hope he is doing better. (Picture order is Older / Younger)

Charter Communications / Bobby Pin

Charter Communications went down today for several hours. I'm unsure on what time they came back online. Charter subscribers had limited or no internet connection due to an outage. The toll free number took over one hour for a representative, and all of the local charter communication division disconnected their phone lines or did not answer their calls because people (like me) decided to call local numbers instead of the toll free number.

Trying to find out about this, I ran across this article (Link). Charter is apparently filing
for bankruptcy and got it extended. They are trying to reduce a 21 billion (not million) dollar debt to a 13 billion dollar debt. Yikes. Companies have so much money, or lack of...haha

On another note, I was in class and saw a classmate with a bobby pin in her hair. She had two going across the center of her head. It was placed on top side to side and it looked like she had antennae. A human ant. Anyways, you can try to picture that in your head.

Farmville

So, I've been playing farmville on facebook and was using the scythe to harvest my farm. And the scythe, usually associated with the grim reaper, made me have a "light bulb" moment. The grim reaper is the farmer and we humans are the crops. When we are ripe and old, we get harvested. And like plants, we spawn little ones and the whole thing starts over again. I wonder if there is a farmer for the grim reaper, or a farmer for that grim reaper. Where does it end?
